Pilgrims and visitors who come to Montserrat can now enjoy the video mapping that the abbey premiered during the inauguration of the Millennium. This video mapping, called Lux Splendens, offers an audiovisual experience that combines art, music and technology to offer a complete sensory experience.
The projecte, developed by the company Playmedia, has been created with all types of pilgrims in mind, from regulars to thos who arrive at Montserrat for the first tima, and aims to convey a deep and reflective message about creation, the Virgen Mary and Christ.
The audiovisual experience can now be enjoyed on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays at 3.30 p.m. and on Saturdays at 8.15 p.m.
From March it will be extended to more days.

The video mapping is divided into three chapters (Creation, the Virgin Mary and Christ) that seek to convey messages of great spiritual depth, using a state-of-the-art combination of image, sound and light.
The first chapter, Creation and Montserrat, reflects on the magnificence of nature as a reflection of divine beauty. The projections includes scenes of the Montserrat mountains, trees, the river and the singing of birds, all framed with lighting that symbolizes the passage of day into night and invites contemplation of the natural world as God's creation.
The second chapter, The Virgin Mary, focuses on the figure of Our Lady, showing the cycle of life and the seasons of the year. Through the light and colors that represent spring and renewal, reference is made to the devotion to the Virgin Mary as a symbol of poetic and spirtual light. This light is linked to the music of the Escolania Choir, which wil accompany the projection of images that narrate the life of Mary, generating a deeply evocative atmosphere of spirituality.
Finally, the third chapter, Christ, addresses the figure of Jesus as Savior of the world. Through a natural transition from Mary to Christ, the chapter explores the cycle of life, death and resurrection of Jesus, using light as a metaphor for his tranforming presence. The images of the Subirachs sculpture, located in the Chapel of the Blessed Sacrament, serve as artistic inspiration for the projection of Christ.

A remarkable aspect of this project is the music that accompanie the images. Specifically created by composer Gerard Pastor, the soundtrack is based on the motifs of Virolai (hymn to the Virgin of Montserrat), and has been recorded with the Boys' Choir (Escolania) and the organ of the Basilica, creating a perfect harmony between image and sound.

On the other hand, the project includes references in three languages, Catalan, Spanish and English, with the aim of reaching all pilgrims who arrive at the Basilica, regardless of their origin.

This experience in complemente by a light and image show designed with state-of-the-art techological equipment, which transforms the entire Basilica into a 360-degree scene. Pilgrims are transported on a spiritual journey that invites them to reflect on the central themes of creation, devotion and teh figure of Christ, while they are surrounded by a fascinating visual and sound spectacle.

The video mapping not only allows them to discover Montserrat from a new perspective, but also invites them to learn more about the spiritual values that haver marked the history of this emblematic place, with a proposal that combines cultural heritage, religious devotion and modern technology. This proposal is an invitation to all those who want to live a unique spiritual experience, deeply connected to the millenary history of Montserrat and its symbolic richness.
