Hermitages Path
Distance: 2 hours, 7km

Once in front of the Abat Oliba hostel building, we will head up the paved road, passing in front of the Sant Joan funicular station.
We'll reach Sant Miquel cross viewpoint diversion (signposted) which offers breathtaking views. A few further metres higher, we find Sant Miquel chapel.
Following the ascending track, we will find the Sant Miquel's pool, linked most probably to the remote origins of the chapel.
We'll get to the Pla de Sant Miquel in around five minutes, where you will find a crossroads: we'll take the path with a steep slope which leading to Pla de les Taràntules, a plain just in front the upper station of the Sant Joan funicular. The Nature Hall is located in the same building, and provides information about the mountain.

Among the different trails departing from here, we must choose the one on the left, the Sant Joan trail.
From the Sant Joan chapel, we may continue to the remains of the ancient hermitages of Sant Joan and Sant Onofre, both embedded in a long crack in the rock. The recovery of Jacob's stairway allows access to the Santa Magdalena hermitage.
Now we return to the main trail by the same path back to the Monastery, or we can alternatively take Sant Joan funicular at Pla de les Taràntules.
