THE AUDIOVISUAL 

How do the monks of Montserrat live?
An exhibition and an audiovisual that allow us to discover the most representative spaces of the monastery and understand the organization of the Benedictine community, as well as the most significant aspects of Montserrat.

THE NATURAL PARK 

The Mountain Classroom
Ride up and down with the Sant Joan funicular and visit the Nature Classroom, which includes explanations about the flora, fauna, and legends, and introduces young children to the main aspects of the massif without the need for a mountain walk.

The Hermitages Path, a Medieval Route
Take the funicular up to Sant Joan and walk down the Sant Miquel path, where you can observe the type of rock, the varied flora of the mountain, the devastating effects of fires, and learn some of the legends related to Montserrat's place names.

An Animated Forest*
Mountain animals guide young children to discover Montserrat, their home. A visit that allows experiencing the natural environment through the senses.

THE MUSEUM 

Adgmet, the Egyptian Boy*
This story and the museum’s archaeological objects introduce us to the fascinating world of ancient Egypt: customs, music, dances, etc.

  • Learn general features of Egyptian culture

The Enchanted Giant and the Mountain of Colors*
From its privileged position on the Montserrat mountain, the Enchanted Giant observes the surrounding territory and has discovered a thousand and one colors you probably never thought existed. The Giant invites you to visit the museum to learn to recognize a world of colors present in nature. 
Activity Objectives: 

  • Stimulate observation skills
  • Identify different colors and shades
  • Work with possible meanings of colors.

The Mummies Speak
With the help of the museum’s exhibits and graphic supports, we will reconstruct life in ancient Egypt, its beliefs, and customs. Activity Objectives: • Introduction to Egyptian culture • Respect for other cultures • Learn to value archaeological heritage

The Paintings Have a Voice
Through observing various museum works, learn to decipher the clues hidden in the paintings. Activity Objectives: 

  • Develop observation skills
  • Stimulate analytical abilities
  • Introduction to the world of painting

Egypt and Mesopotamia, Cradle of Our Culture
We make a leap in time to closely experience the birth of writing and discover the great civilizations of Egypt and Mesopotamia. Understanding the past helps us better understand our present. Activity Objectives: 

  • Introduce the territory and society of the early great civilizations
  • Understand the past to comprehend the present
  • Enhance respect for historical heritage

Bonaventura, the Traveling Monk
We will follow the footsteps of the people of Israel through the archaeological, zoological, and botanical collection gathered by Father Bonaventura Ubach, a material illustration of the biblical text collected during his travels through Egypt, Mesopotamia, and the Holy Land. Activity Objectives: 

  • Understand the importance of the Museum’s role
  • Approach different biblical cultures
  • Learn about the formation of the Montserrat Museum collection

A Stranger in the Suitcase
We take the suitcase and go on a journey with Santiago Rusiñol and his landscapes. Discover everything from the fog of Paris to the sun of Mallorca and Granada. 
Activity Objectives:

  • Explain the use of color and different shades to convey sensations
  • Introduction to the work of Santiago Rusiñol
  • Appreciate the importance of painting as a reflection of reality

THE MONTSERRAT CHOIR SCHOOL

The Montserrat Choir School opens its doors for you to learn about one of the world’s oldest and most iconic music schools. We will visit the facilities of the three areas of the Choir School: the Choir, the School, and the Residence of the boy singers, and explain how their daily routine unfolds. We will end the tour at the Basilica, where you can hear the boys singing live.
