How to get to Montserrat by road?

Located in the centre of Catalonia and well communicated by the main road network, Montserrat is just a short journey from any part of the country. Visitors can also make their way to Monistrol de Montserrat and take either the rack railway or the cable car up to the sanctuary.

If you come to the sanctuary by car, the Montserrat Mountain Trust provides attended car parking at rates laid down annually by the Catalan Parliament.
This fee pays for the car park attendant service and also serves to fund other services: lighting, cleaning, gardening work and maintenance of the natural park.

This measure means that all traffic, both light and heavy vehicles, will be diverted to the next exit (582B Esparraguera Sud) of the A-2 motorway.

From here it will be possible to reach the PK 4+400 link of the C-55 (in Olesa) via the C-1414 connecting Esparreguera and Olesa.

There will also be access to the B-40 between Abrera and Esparreguera, from where drivers will be able to reach the C-58 (from Manresa to Terrassa) or the C-16 motorway near Viladecavalls.

A third option is to continue as far as the Montserrat exit (570) and reach the Sanctuary via the BP-1103 (Can Maçana).

The Ministry of Transport and Sustainable Mobility has begun emergency repair work on a water collector on the C-55 as it passes through Abrera on the branch road leading upwards towards Olesa de Montserrat
